Kimberly L. May, Legal Secretary

Kimberly L. May comes to Hilliard & Swartz, LLP with an extensive background in legal, tax, banking and office management experience and practice. Ms. May was an Office Manager for over 15 years for State Farm. At State Farm, Kimberly was responsible for all day-to-day operations and accounts as well as writing and processing insurance policies for both business and personal usage. Kimberly worked closely with her supervisor in the hiring of and developing of other agents and managed to successfully grow the business to maximum capacity.

Ms. May was the Branch Manager of United Bank for 7 years wherein she was responsible for all day-to-day operations, accounting, clients/customers and management of all accounts, loans, etc. Kimberly and her team achieved and surpassed all monthly and yearly goals set forth by United Bank.

Ms. May spent nearly a year as a Tax Deputy in the Kanawha County Sheriff’s Tax Office. Kimberly managed incoming and outgoing calls and communications, assisted the public with tax dilemmas and balanced accounts and collections on a daily basis.

Most recently, Ms. May spent two years as a Legal Secretary for the Honorable Robert M. Montgomery, Kanawha County Family Court Judge wherein she devoted 100% of her time to the management, scheduling and handling of domestic relations cases for the Judge. Ms. May was solely responsible for the Judge’s daily and weekly docketing and scheduling, communications with litigants, attorneys, experts, etc., inputting and processing data and information and overall office management.

Kimberly is the mother of two beautiful girls, Brittany and Tori May, as well as a little Shih Tzu, Max. Kimberly is family oriented and loves spending quality time with her family, especially when it is on the softball field. Kimberly’s oldest daughter, Brittany, is the softball coach at Ohio Valley College. Ms. May is a very crafty person who loves turning one man’s trash into her own treasure.

Kimberly enjoys the little things in life “as you are not promised tomorrow and life is too short to not spend it with the ones you love.” Ms. May has substantial certifications/licenses in property and casualty business, life and health insurance as well as business/accounting. With decades of public service, office management and banking combined with her years and experience in the Court system, make her a valuable asset to the firm.
